    There are five basic objective training metrics we use in our training to design practices and measure progress.

    Math - The 5 Training Metrics

    Using these five metrics every practice, every task in each practice can be customized to a swimmer’s personal skill level.

    Stroke Length (Stroke Count, or SPL) is how far you travel forward on each arm stroke.

    Tempo is the number of seconds it takes for each arm to come to the same point in the stroke cycle.
    Time, or Pace refers to how many seconds (or minutes) it takes to cover a certain distance.

    Distance or Duration simply refers to the amount of distance or time of continuous swimming.

    Rest Intervals refers to the amount of rest taken between each piece of continuous swimming.
