Below is a description of our services which require your data and what we do with it. You may email Mediterra at any time to request more detail about what information we have, or request deletion of your user account and information.
Our Activities Which Require Some Data
At Mediterra we provide live athletic instruction, and online instruction and education, and we receive compensation for that. We collect your information only for these purposes.
This is our privacy policy in a nutshell: We do not share your data with any person outside of our organization.
Inside the organization, only our administrators may view your data behind the scenes of our website and in our registration forms for online and live training events.
Live And Online Instruction
For providing you with personal instruction, live and online, this requires we know:
- Your name
- Your sex
- Your age
- Your history in swimming, athletics, and with any relevant injury
For keeping in contact with you we may need:
- Your mailing address
- Your email
- Your phone number
This information may be used to set up a simple user account on our online training site – the Mediterra Swim Dojo – where we keep information regarding your training.
We delete your user account and data if you have been inactive for 2 years, or when you request that we close your user account and erase your data.
Users On Our Online Training Site
On the Mediterra Swim Dojo we can see which users are logged in and which pages they have viewed.
There are occasions when we run into a new problem with the Dojo and will allow a technician to briefly come in at admin level and help us find the problem and solution.
Our Mailing List
We manage our emailing lists through Mailchimp (see their Privacy Policy) for:
- Those who have requested regular news and updates from Mediterra.
- Those who are current registered and past students of Mediterra.
- Those who have inquired about a particular swim camp and have asked to be kept informed about it.
- Those who are registered for an upcoming training event.
This is our primary way of sending messages to those who have specifically asked to be in communication with us.
For those on the mailing list we receive from you and note:
- Your name
- Your email
- Your city of residence, country, region of the world
- What Mediterra training event you have participated in previously
- Your interest in certain subjects from Mediterra (such as ‘Swim Camps’, or ‘Private Lessons’)
Every email that is sent out through Mailchimp has a link at the bottom allowing the recipient to unsubscribe or change their subscription information.
You may unsubscribe from a mailing list at any time. Just follow the link at the bottom of the email.
Additional Data For Our Swim Camps
In addition to the data above, for those participating in our multi-day swim camps we will also collect:
- Emergency contacts, doctor contact, and pertinent medical information
If, in the event of an emergency at an event, where we needed to act quickly on your behalf to secure medical treatment or communicate with your emergency contacts, this information may be viewed by our coaching staff and the medical and/or civil authorities to take action on your behalf.
This information is deleted after the event is finished.
Online Financial Transactions
For transactions, you obviously need to supply the information to charge against your credit card. Whether you fill out the payment form on our website or on a Paypal portal, we do not actually see this credit card information. All our transactions are handled through Paypal and Braintree (also run by Paypal). Those entities collect and process the credit card information. As far as we know, we do not have access to that information. We can only see that status of a transaction and make some decisions about what to do with that transaction once it has been accepted and processed.
You may view the privacy policy for Payal and for Braintree.
